Food was your best friend.

The food was there for you / when no one else was / and helped you feel better.
It was your way of dealing with every emotion.
Because no one taught you how to deal with your emotions. You’ve even been called ”too sensitive” simply because you had emotions.
But somewhere along the way, this friendship began to spiral out of control.

Food became your answer to everything.

Having a bad day? Ice cream.
Are you angry with your colleagues? Potato chips.
Something to celebrate? Chocolate. And lots of it.

You felt completely out of control.

Shamed.
Desperate.
Unhappy with your body.

So you did the only thing you could think of. Started a diet.

That’s the best way to get control over food, right?
So, over the years you tried them all. Low calorie diet. Atkins. Keto. Eating at restricted intervals during the day. A diet designed by a nutritionist. Fruit and tea. Soaked wheat. Cabbage soup. Fluids. Water. ”Weekend diet”- 80% of the time you eat controlled and 20% you allow yourself everything.
And you felt in control of the food- sometimes.
But this did not last long.
You couldn’t follow the diet for long /almost no one can/.

Because

This is the view of Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Man is a complex system of parts. When the Controlling Part is at the helm, we are on a diet. But we live a life that is full of triggers. And when something happens that triggers/activates a part that brings pain /Shame, I’m not good enough/competent/attractive/desirable, I’m lonely…/ then the Protector Emotional Eating comes in to protect us from that pain through soothing, distraction, dissociation/”food trance”/.

And the Emotional Eating part doesn’t care at all that the Controlling part has given the injunction: Diet. Because the Emotional Eating part has a fire to put out, the fire of pain.

And you stop the diet and turn back to food.

With the well-known I-have-no-control-over-my-eating /along with a few extra pounds and body hatred/.

You have achieved many things in life. You have a career, friends, family. But your emotional eating… That’s something you can’t handle.

And it’s something that makes you feel like a failure. Ashamed. Hopeless.

But you’re not ready to give up yet. You know there is an answer. You know you can change this.

But you can’t do it the same way. You can’t start a new diet. Diets don’t work in the long run.

You know now that your relationship with food is the root of the problem. And it needs to change.

You’re ready for an approach that will help you understand the whole system around emotional eating.

Because it is a complex system of parts. And the part that restricts food is just one part in that system. And that’s why its strategy can’t last long.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) will help you see and get to know the players in your system related to nutrition and the body.

Understanding the map of the inner terrain will give you clarity, awareness and tools for impact.

IFS will help you learn to recognize the triggers of your emotional eating and respond to them differently /not through emotional eating/.

IFS will help you to make a big change in your attitude towards your body – to start appreciating it and treating it with tenderness.

This method will give you the tools to change your relationship with food and your body forever.

This is a method that will give you freedom in terms of emotional eating so that you can truly enjoy your food and your body.
